The sounds of passing cars and the voices of people out and about lend an unusual background to the work of this popular artist.  As people walk past his South Street Magic Garden, I notice them looking up at the decorated walls and gazing at a site that is impossible to miss.
Glass bottles and bicycle wheels that are integrated into the foundation of the “magic garden” take on new meaning as Isaiah fashions them into a work of art.  When I visited the garden Isaiah was there, his smile warmly radiating a welcome to the many visitors who like me are rapt to this place. A middle-aged woman asks me to take her picture standing next to Zagar while a father holding his son’s hand explores the courtyard. They come from near and far, from differing backgrounds and are united in their mutual appreciation of his art.
